Alcoholic Beverage Tamper-Evident Label Laws

Due to ever changing COVID-19 restrictions and laws, bars and restaurants remain in a state of limbo between opening fully and remaining closed. Many states are coping with the fluctuation by allowing alcoholic beverages to be delivered, either temporarily or as a permanent change. Laws vary from state to state, but we are beginning to see a new regulation emerge - tamper-evident labels and seals for alcoholic beverages.

Are tamper-evident labels for alcohol delivery necessary?

We always recommend sealing deliveries with tamper-evident labels, whether they are food packages, drinks, desserts, or alcoholic beverages. However, some states have made it mandatory for you to seal alcoholic beverages with various requirements.

With changing regulations, it can be difficult to know what the laws are in your state. Refer to the National Restaurant Association’s chart to check the laws in your state. This chart will show you:

  • Whether restaurant/bar alcohol delivery is allowed
  • Whether delivery via third party service is allowed
  • Food purchase requirements to accompany alcohol delivery
  • Type of alcohol customers can have delivered
  • Container and seal requirements
  • Length of law
  • Start and end date, if applicable
  • Any additional requirements

Benefits of tamper-evident labels for alcohol delivery

Tamper-evident labels are great for all types of delivery, and alcoholic beverages are no exception. These labels make it obvious to the customer if their drink was tampered with before they received it. The labels can also double to adhere mini bottles of alcohol to a cup of mixer for the customer to pour themselves.

Labels can also be customized to represent your brand, logo, and messaging. This allows your brand to remain top-of-mind, even as customers enjoy your food and drinks from home.
